Supporter Spotlight: Lana Paton & Family

Lana Paton is an adventurous Make-A-Wish® Rope for Hope veteran and mom of two, with a “soft spot for children’s charities.” She currently sits on the National Board of Directors for Make-A-Wish® Canada, and has since 2015.

For three years now, Lana has participated in Rope for Hope Toronto, raising $10,000 for her first rappel alone! It wasn’t long before Lana’s daughter, Zoe, joined in on the action and rappelled with her mom.

Ambitious and resourceful, Lana and her family are constantly finding ways to raise money for Make-A-Wish®: they hold garage sales where they sell homemade baked goods and lemonade; and Lana’s son, Zack, plays his guitar in front of the local grocery store during the holidays to raise money, to which she and her husband match every dollar.

While there are many charities Lana and her family could donate their time and money to, she explains what she loves about Make-A-Wish Canada: “I love that Make-A-Wish brings joy to families that really need it. They go above and beyond when granting wishes.”

Being a board member has impacted Lana’s life significantly. She credits her involvement to having a greater appreciation for the power of a wish, feeling more engaged with the cause and connected to the mission. “I feel that the board and Make-A-Wish staff are super passionate about the mission,” she says. When asked about the future, Lana has admirable goals:“I want to become a wish granter soon and raise enough money each year to grant two wishes.”

Make-A-Wish Canada thanks Lana and the Paton family for their commitment to supporting Make-A-Wish.
