Yes I realize my picture isn’t me but that little guy is the reason I’m doing this 💚
As soon as I read about this 100km fundraising hike for Make-A-Wish I knew Ryker and I were in. Having first hand experience let me TRY to put into words what an amazing group of people and charity this really is. My son Ryker was granted a wish and in April 2018 we went to Disney World in Florida for a week. From the moment we applied, it felt like everyone involved went above and beyond. It never felt like we were bothering anyone when asking a million questions. The volunteers helped us decide on the perfect wish; they helped get Ryker so excited and spent the time to find handmade thoughtful gifts leading up to it and taking time out of their busy lives to drop them off. The staff worked with our schedules to organize the best itinerary. We had no worries because everything was taken care of and covered. And that is a pretty great feeling after living quite the stressful life for a few years.
Ryker spent most of his life hooked up to dialysis machines and hospital equipment so having the freedom to fly on a plane to somewhere magical and seeing him so happy and excited means more than anyone could ever understand. He got to meet Mickey and so many of his friends - his autograph frame is a priceless momento from the trip. Wish kids are treated like they deserve the world - which of course they do! We went to 4 Disney parks, 2 universal studios parks, sea world, and LEGO land in 6 jam packed days. Everywhere we went we had front of the line access to rides and special seats to shows. It’s an experience unlike anything I could have imagined and I’ll forever be grateful for the care and love my child received.
These are the kind of experiences Make-A-Wish provides and this is why I want to help raise money so other kids and families get to experience this kind of magic.
