I am helping transform lives, one wish at a time!
In 2008, Marta fulfilled an ambitious life long calling to rise to the aide of children, especially ones suffering terminal or serious illness. Her family were grown and she found herself with the time to make her dream reality and so she got busy. With the help of some good friends, she organized, trained for and successfully completed a marathon ride of more than two thousand one hundred miles (3380 kms), and in so doing, raised more that a quarter of a million dollars ($250,000) in support of the Children's Wish (now known as the Make a Wish) Foundation.
After trailering her four horses to Canada's parliament grounds in Ottawa, Ontario, she began her epic journey in freezing temperatures.
Over the ensuing three months, she rode along narrow ditches bordering busy highways, through snow and rain storms and endless monotonous miles. She arrived at Calgary in time to feature in the famous Calgary Stampede parade. She was horseback an average of thirty miles a day, six days a week.
The purpose of my book and Giddy Up for Wishes is to help keep Marta's wish alive. All of the profits from sales of this book will be donated to the Make a Wish Foundation, in Marta's memory, her charity of choice and so close to her huge heart.
