FAQs

Where do funds raised go?

  • All funds raised at Trees of Joy will provide invaluable support for our mission: create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
  • A child is diagnosed with a critical illness every 20 minutes. With three new children facing critical illness each and every hour, our need for donation is continuous. Our goal at this event is to generate enough funds to grant the wishes of 80 children in Ontario. We still have thousands of wishes waiting to be granted. We cannot grant those wishes without your help.

Will food and drinks be available?

  • Food and beverages will be available to all wish kids, families, and tree teams.

How many corporate team members can attend?

  • Each corporate team can bring up to 10 members to participate in the event.

How should our team dress for the event?

  • Many teams choose to identify themselves as a team with company/family shirts, hats, pins, or holiday sweaters or teams can dress business casual.  We encourage team photographs with their tree and/or wish child and families.

Will supplies be provided?

  • All corporate teams will purchase and plan out their tree decorations ahead of the event and bring them with them to the event. It’s a good idea to pre-hook ornaments on hooks to make decorating go faster! Make-A-Wish will have a limited supply of extra ornaments in case any break or replacements are needed.

Can wish families bring additional guests?

  • Wish kids are welcome to bring their immediate family, including parents and siblings.

If my wish child is sick and cannot attend the event, do we still decorate their tree at the event?

  • Yes!  While it is disappointing that sometimes due to their critical illness, at the last minute a family may not be able to attend on the day. However, we will still deliver that child’s tree to their home following the event, which will bring them some much-needed joy. We also still want each team to witness the magic of this event.  The wish family will be asked to record their child’s reaction when the tree is delivered and unveiled at their home.  We will forward that video to the tree decorating team.
