BuyWell is a proudly Canadian company that provides an online community of health and wellness experts, natural products and integrative wellness services. Their mission to is to make natural health and wellness affordable and available to everyone. BuyWell supports Canadian businesses and their communities. Founded by Amanda LeBlanc, their motto is, fittingly, "Live Well, Buy Well”. We caught up with Amanda about Team BuyWell’s participation in this year’s 5K Foam Fest.
How did you get involved with the 5K Foam Fest?
The BuyWell team is honoured to be participating in the 5K Foam Fest to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Not only is this an amazing cause and team-building experience, but a wish granted was instrumental in defining a career path for one of our valued BuyWell team members, years ago.
One of our talented programmers, Josh Kenny, received his very first computer from a wish while in and out of hospitals for health-related heart issues. During this difficult time in Josh's life, the computer that he wished for helped to build his computer skills and foster a love for programming that serves him to this day.
Josh is a true inspiration in our office and to everyone going through difficult health issues. He remains active today with a passion for biking, maintains an amazing sense of humour and an incredible outlook on life.
Running is not something that Josh can do easily, but he’s honoured to support Make-A-Wish through this fundraising event with his BuyWell team members who are running in his honour.
We hope to make Josh proud and that our fundraising can help give the gift of hope to more kids, like Josh, who wished for his first computer all those years ago.
What inspires you about Make-A-Wish and the work we do?
Many of us at BuyWell have children or nieces and nephews and of course, we know what this amazing organization has done for many children in our community. If there is anything that we can do to make the lives of children a happier or healthier one, we want to get involved. At BuyWell, we value health and wellness for every step in a family’s journey! Naturally supporting Make-A-Wish and their commitment to giving back to these strong and courageous children is a perfect fit and we are so happy to be even just a small part of this great initiative. Make-A-Wish really proves that wishes do come true.
What inspired you to create a fund-raising page and how did you feel when you committed to raising funds in support of Make-A-Wish?
We are so honoured that we get to do something as a team to help give back to such an amazing cause. Being able to raise funds as a group helps bring us together to make a larger impact to support Make-A-Wish and their efforts.
If you could share a message with all the Foam Fest participants to inspire them to create a fundraising page and raise funds for Make-A-Wish, what would that message be?
Working together as a team to support such a Make-A-Wish has brought us all together in the office in a really meaningful and inspiring way. We strongly encourage working as a team to help fundraise—it builds a bond!
