EVENT CONCEPT

What is the difference between the two experiences?

The difference between the two concepts is that one is more for leisure and one is for those biking enthusiasts who want a big challenge.

What are the differences between the participant types?

This is an exceptional year. Many of us have been sent home to work, some are spending more time with family, some businesses have grown stronger together. We have opened up this event to fit everyone's new normals.

Individual registration: If you are unable to form a team this year and wish to ride on your own. The minimum fundraising commitment is $250.

Family Registration: Created for those who want to ride with their family, including children, for a good cause. No minimum or maximum number of participants per family. Minimum fundraising commitment is $400.

Team Registration: We also offer you the opportunity to get back into the spirit of the 48-HOUR RIDE as you knew itc, by forming a team of up to 6 participants. The minimum fundraising commitment is $1,200.

Do I have to choose a specific day to do my experience?

No! You can choose any day or time between September 12 and 19, 2020. During this time, our wish children will be there to virtually support you. Although if this is not a convenient time, you can ride at anytime between now and September 19.

Is there a specific route I need to follow?

This is YOUR experience! You can bike inside on your bike trainer/stationary bike or choose your own route around your neighborhood. You can create fun route, determine pit stops for water breaks, and tell your neighbours so they can cheer you on from their front yards! Please practice physical distancing guidelines set by your national, provincial, municipal and international public health and government organizations.

I want to help, but cannot participate this year. What can I do?

You can still be part of Ride for Wishes by donating to someone who is participating or to the general event.

What is happening with wishes right now and what can I do for wish kids to show my support?

We appreciate all your fundraising efforts to date and recognize this is a difficult situation. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, many wishes have been postponed resulting in a record number of children waiting for their wishes to come true. Rest assured; these wish kids will receive their wishes as soon as it is safe to do so. In the meantime, we’re sharing our new campaign; ‘Messages of Hope’ to provide smiles and spread positivity to our wish children. We’re rallying together to send these kids some positive messages to support them through this unexpected wait. We hope you can share some well wishes or put together a fun video. It could be anything: a photo, song, dance, stay at home challenge that could inspire a message of hope.

DONATIONS

How do we make an offline donation?
(when a participant collects cash/cheque or payment is made with the credit card of the participant and not the donor)

  • Log into your profile online at www.rideforwishes.ca
  • Under the tab called Donations, click on Add Offline Donation
  • Add the information of the donor (name, address, email) and select Add donation
  • Then either call the Foundation at 514 488-9474 ext 6245, to make the payment with your credit card, or send the cheque (in the name of the foundation) or cash to the Foundation's office.
  • Once the payment is made or the cash/cheque is received, the system will send your donor a receipt.

How to receive a tax receipt?

Your receipt will be attached to the email you will receive within a few minutes of sending your donation. You can also download it from your account when you log in to the Ride for Wishes website.

If you do not receive a receipt in your inbox within a few minutes of sending your donation, please check your Junk (hotmail users), Spam (gmail users) or Bulk (yahoo users) E-mail folder just in case the receipt email got delivered there instead of your inbox. If so, select the message and click Not Junk, to allow future messages to get through.

If you need more help, please contact the event staff at 514-488-9474 ext. 6245 or roulezpourdesvoeux@faisunvoeuqc.ca to receive a new tax receipt. Please send the name of the donor, the date of the donation and the amount.

When are the donations due?

Fundraising begins as soon as you register, and ends on September 30, 2020. Donations can be sent at any time (online or by mail). Closer to the event the event team will follow up with all the teams that have not started raising funds or have not yet achieved their goal to make sure they will have it at the event.

What happens if we collect donations, but are unable to participate in the event?

All funds raised are NON-REFUNDABLE. If you or a member of your team no longer wishes to participate in the event, you can ask someone else to replace you. Donations collected can be transferred to this new person to assist in their fundraising.

What happens if we are not able to collect the total minimum fundraising?

We are here to support you and help you achieve your team's goal. There are many ways to raise funds. Please visit our fundraising ideas page and/or contact us to discuss other options together.

If we are less than 6 per team, is the amount to be raised $200 per person or $1,200 per team?

If you are less than 6 people in your team you still need to raise at least $1,200. That is minimum amount per team of 6 or less.

I do not feel comfortable fundraising considering everything that is happening with COVID-19, how can you help?

The minimum fundraising amounts are set per participation type, but our team is on hand to help you fundraise during these challenging times and offer alternative ways to meet your personal fundraising goal.

We understand and appreciate that this is an unsettling environment. If you feel comfortable fundraising and sharing the Make-A-Wish vision to grant the wish of every eligible child in Canada to please do so. Most importantly, we support you in doing only what you feel comfortable with.

We will be sending out top tips to reach your loved ones to share your fundraising goal in the coming weeks and we can be reached here Patricia Dolla: roulezpourdesvoeux@faisunvoeuqc.ca to support you.

48-HOUR RIDE PARTICIPANTS

If I have already registered for the 48-HOUR RIDE 2020, what happens to my registration?

We wanted to save you a few steps, since you are already registered on our site, there are no steps to follow at the moment. All currently registered participants will be automatically entered into the Ride for Wishes event.

Your team is currently signed up for "Ride for the Challenge".  We have updated your fundraising minimum to reflect the new event provisions ($1,200). Any money you have already collected will stay in your thermometer and count towards the event.

What if we cannot fill a team of 6 participants this year?

We can change your registration type to individual, the minimum fundraising goal is 250$. Or if you are at home with your family and want to create a family team, we can transfer you to that registration type. There is no minimum or maximum amount of participants, adults or children, in this type. The minimum fundraising goal is 400$ for a family.

How can I modify my experience and participant type if I am already registered?

If you would like to make any changes, for example, change your experience or if you prefer to create a new family team or ride on your own, send us an email and we will be happy to help you modify your registration.

What if I cannot participate this year and have already registered?

If you no longer wish to take part in our virtual event and would like to withdraw from the event, you may do so. Please let us know if you would like to possibly transfer your registration to 2021 48-HOUR RIDE. Our 2021 website is already operational. Please send us an email to roulezpourdesvoeux@faisunvoeuqc.ca.

What happens to the donations I have already received?

The donations you have collected are vital to our wish-granting mission.

If you are participating in Ride for Wishes, all donations that you have raised will still be present on your DonorDrive fundraising page. If you are unable to participate we can either transfer the donations to the 2021 event, or keep them assigned to the Ride for Wishes event to support our mission to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses in the year 2020.

Our team can also supply you with a letter to share with your donors to explain the changes of our fundraising event for the year 2020. Their support is needed more than ever.

If I cancel my registration, will my donors be refunded?

Exceptionally for the donations made to the 48-HOUR RIDE participants of 2020 between October 1 2019 and April 6 2020: If you choose to cancel your event registration, you can offer your donors the option of receiving a refund; alternatively, they can continue to support Make A Wish through their donation. If a refund is requested, we will return the individual donation to the original donor. Please note this process is time-intensive and therefore will require up to four weeks from your request for the team to process.

Can I transfer my registration to 2021?

Yes, 100%! We can do this for you as our 2021 website is already operational. If you have any donations they can also be transferred to 2021 or be kept in this event to help grant the wishes of children in 2020.

Are the requests for living areas made during the early registration, still in order of priority for 2021?

Yes! If you decide to stay registered for Ride for Wishes, your living space request will be transferred to 2021. We will add it into your 2021 registration once you are registered. Please note there is no rush to register for the 2021 event, we will send you a reminder to register in October.

How should we proceed with reservations or orders we have placed for the 48-HOUR RIDE event?

If you have made any reservations or orders (ex: tents, trailers, equipment), we encourage you to talk to your suppliers and cancel your reservations or ask if they can change the date to 2021. If you have placed an order for jerseys, why not still wear them even if you are not all riding together?!
