KICKSTART YOUR FUNDRAISING

Below are some tips to help you kick start your fundraising. Our team is here to help you succeed!

Make-A-Wish Canada is grateful for the generous support we receive from our community. Thanks to people like you, we can continue on our quest to bring every eligible child’s wish to life.

#1 . Don't forget your purpose

Reminding yourself why you’re participating in the event and raising support will help you make a compelling case the people you’re reaching out to.

Ask yourself:

  • What are your asking people to do?
  • Why are you asking them?
  • How can they support you?

Use your personal Donor Drive page to share your story and encourage people to support your overall team fundraising goal!

#2. You don't have to do it alone

You can work as a team to fundraise, and each team member can raise funds to support the overall team goal. Whether it’s hosting a workplace fundraising event or sale, more heads can work better than one!

Your personal Donor Drive page is loaded with email templates you can use to reach out to people to ask for their support. Don’t forget to use the thank you email template to thank those that have supported your fundraising efforts!

#3. Make your plan

You can find support in a variety of places. It’s a good idea to start with your family and friends, but you can also consider:

  • Social and professional networks
  • Matching funding available from your employer
  • Events or fundraisers you can host (e.g., summer barbecues, dinner parties, game nights, birthday gifts, etc.)

You can use your team Donor Drive page to record offline donations as well as online donations if you host events in person or in your office.

#4. Utilize your social networks

Don’t forget about the power of using your online platforms to raise awareness for your team’s goal and why you’re participating in the event. You can reach a wider audience and gain a few more supporters for your cause!

Use the Get the Word Out feature on Donor Drive to share your page on your social platforms.
