As each day passes, children across Canada continue to experience unimaginable challenges due to critical illness. Their childhoods, once filled with dreams and laughter, are replaced with fear, anxiety and loneliness. A wish has the power to transform their experience, offering relief and hope, helping wish children and their families to focus on something other than pain, fear and uncertainty. Medical professionals see first-hand how a wish is essential to a child’s treatment and helps improve their health outcome. 

We would like to introduce you to Liam.

Liam is an energetic and fun-loving 11 year old with a heart of gold. He was diagnosed with cancer, and had to undergo intense treatment. Despite battling cancer, Liam's spirit remains unwavering, and he continues to find joy in life's little pleasures.

Liam's days are filled with adventure and excitement. He finds comfort in the world of books, immersing himself in captivating stories that transport him to magical realms. When he's not lost in the pages of a
book, you'll often find him conquering virtual worlds with his favourite video games, or spending time outdoors with his friends on the water: fishing, swimming or kayaking.

Liam wished to have the ultimate boys cave! He wanted this to be the most incredible hangout area, where he could make unforgettable memories with his friends and brothers, Koen and Benjamin. Liam's
brothers were just as thrilled as he was, eagerly brainstorming ideas for the decorations. Their excitement was contagious, and the wish planning became a source of pure joy for the entire family during hard times.

When Liam first saw his wish come to life, he couldn't believe his eyes. Imagine the joy on Liam's face as he saw his basement transform into the ultimate hangout zone. Complete with a snack bar stocked with
his favourite treats, a fridge, a popcorn machine and even a TV perfect for watching his all-time favourite movie, "The Goonies."

Liam shared how essential his wish was as part of his treatment journey, "When you are sick and in pain the days are long. Knowing there was a wish to plan helped get through those very hard days."
