Our campers are encouraged to participate in fun camping games and challenges throughout the week and share their campout photos and stories on social media. Family-friendly activities will be available to download throughout the week to help enhance the campout experience!
Seven-year-old wish kid Hillary is this year’s spokesperson for Make-A-Wish Eastern Ontario and is challenging everyone to campout while encouraging donations to help grant wishes to other children like herself who are currently waiting for their life-changing wish. The Great Make-A-Wish Campout was inspired by Hillary’s wish. She absolutely loves camping and her wish was to have a camping trailer AKA “mini house” where she can camp with her family and host YouTube videos with her big sister! Given Hillary’s medical condition, she is in home isolation and can’t travel therefore this is the perfect wish for her. Her wish came true on her 7th birthday when the community got together to surprise her with a parade and her new trailer!
At three and a half months old, Zachary was diagnosed with stage three Wilms tumor (cancer) on his right kidney. After emergency surgery to remove the tumor, Zachary underwent 15 rounds of chemotherapy, all before his first birthday. Zachary is full of life and energy and wanted to share that with his family, by making his wish a camping trailer which he will regularly enjoy for many years to come! Zachary is this year's spokesperson for Make-A-Wish Central Ontario and is challenging everyone to campout and donate to help grant wishes just like his. What makes this year's final day to campout on September 7th even more special is that it's Zachary fifth birthday! Join in on the campout fun and help us celebrate and grant some wishes!
Harrison is a 6-year-old boy living with cancer and is this year’s local wish kid representative for Make-A-Wish Southwestern Ontario. He is challenging everyone in his community to campout and help grant wishes to other children who are currently waiting for their most heartfelt wish. Harrison’s most cherished wish was to have a camping trailer to enjoy camping with his family! Harrison’s wish was granted earlier this summer and he was the 1600th wish for Make-A-Wish Southwestern Ontario. Harrison was overjoyed to receive his new camping trailer and can’t wait to campout during the Great Make-A-Wish Campout!
