This year I am participating in Make-A-Wish® Rope for Hope, rappelling down from great heights, to help grant the wishes of children living with critical illnesses. A wish come true helps children feel stronger, more energetic, more willing and able to battle their critical illness. For many of them, it marks a turning point in their fight against their illnesses.
Some of you knew my son, Danny. He fought hypoplastic left heart disease (HLHS) from birth, and at nearly age 2, he died in hospital while awaiting a heart transplant. His disease was a chronic, difficult journey. As he became more ill, he qualified for Make-A-Wish, and we were so thankful for the opportunity. Unfortunately, Danny did not live long enough to take advantage of this incredible initiative.
Throughout my time as a "heart mom" on the cardiac ward, I witnessed many children experience the joy of looking forward to their "Make-a-Wish" opportunity. I know first-hand the impact it can have on a child's life. Even though I am no longer physically on the heart ward with Danny, a part of me will never leave there. I saw many things most parents don't ever see in life, but the kids who fight for their lives every day are the ones who made the greatest impact on me.
You can help me make a difference in their lives. Your support will allow the Foundation to continue to create powerful wish experiences, improving a child’s state of mind, replacing fear with happiness and helping them to feel like a normal kid again. Every donation counts. Your commitment will help move Make-A-Wish closer to their vision of granting the wish of every eligible child in communities across Canada.
Please donate and support me in Make-A-Wish Rope for Hope!
Thank-you, from wings of Danny and the bottom of my heart,
