I was diagnosed with Leukemia in June, 2019. I was 14 years old at the time, and it was, as you can imagine, heartbreaking. I had no idea what was going to happen to me throughout my treatment.
A month after starting my two-and-a-half year treatment plan, I completely lost feeling in my legs. I ended up in ICU because doctors weren't sure what was happening at the time. After regaining some feeling, I was transfered to the Oncology Unit where I worked with Physio to learn to start moving, walking, and by the end of my six week stay, I was even able to do a couple stairs!
A few months later, I also experienced brain swelling which caused me to lose control of my muscles all over my body. I was unable to speak, swallow, and I could barely blink.
Shortly after experiencing these rare side effects, I found out Make-A-Wish will be granting a "wish " for me! And from there, everything changed :) Knowing I have a "wish" gives me something to look forward to, something to dream about! I have chosen to use my "wish" when I a finish treatment in October 2021...just thinking about it makes me emotional every time. This "wish" means everything to me and I want other kids to experience the same, that is why your donations are so important!
Rappelling off a building may seem scary, after going through what I've been through, it's not that scary afterall!
Last year I was able to raise $20,000 for this event, leaving me in second place in all of Canada! This year, I set my goal for atleast $25,000 but with your help I am hoping to bring that number up even higher!
Please help me CRUSH my fundraising goal of $25,000 so that other kids with a critical illness can experience a "wish" of their own!
