Welcome to my Kimmett Cup fundraising page!
The Kimmett Cup started in 2009 in memory of my sister Lindsay Kimmett. Since year 2 I (Reid) have served as co-chair of the event alongside Dr. Joe MacLellan and Dr. Jason Baserman. Every year a great amount of energy and time goes into the planning and execution of the event, and each year it leaves me feeling energized, happy, and grateful for what transpired in memory of Lindsay and for our community. With the pandemic entering its 3rd year I think I need that energy, happiness and gratitude now more than ever, and I can't wait to take to the ice in February.
I am participating the in the 2022 Kimmett Cup Pond Hockey Tournament to raise critical funds for wishes in our community!
Make-A-Wish’s mission is to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Make-A-Wish Canada is on a quest to bring every eligible child’s wish to life, because a wish is an integral part of a child’s treatment journey. Research shows children who have wishes granted can build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight their illness. Make-A-Wish is the world’s leading children’s wish-granting organization, serving children in every community in Canada, and in more than 50 countries worldwide. All funds raised in Canada support Canadian children in our own communities.
To protect the health of wish kids and their families during the pandemic, Make-A-Wish has paused wish-granting that involves travel and gatherings until the end of the year. Right now, there are over 400 wish kids across Canada whose wishes have been postponed because of COVID-19 — and that number grows every day as this crisis continues. Life feels like it’s on hold for many of us right now and for kids fighting critical illnesses, waiting may not be an option. Make-A-Wish continues to grant life-changing wishes while keeping our wish families safe. When our generous donors and supporters come together during this time of stress and isolation, we can give a child hope, comfort and precious moments with their family.
