I am helping transform lives, one wish at a time!

This year, I’m showing up as a WOMAN FOR WISHES for Make-A-Wish® Canada, to help raise funds to help children with critical illnesses in my community!

Did you know that a child is diagnosed with a critical illness every 20 minutes? With three new children facing critical illnesses each and every hour, the need for donations is continuous.

Why I’m taking part!

Sarah was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer on the muscle tissue of her eyelid at age 10 in November 2004. She underwent almost a year of treatment (chemotherapy and radiation). While we were rocked by such a terrible diagnosis, we moved through 2005 together as a family and were so supported by everyone around us. Make-A- Wish approached us about a wish for Sarah and she was well enough to fulfill her wish in the Fall of 2006 when we went to Atlantis in the Bahamas. We had a fabulous time and decided as a Mom and daughter that we would continue to support Make-A-Wish in any capacity we could to raise enough money for future wishes.

During Sarah’s year of treatment she told me one day that she wanted to be a doctor just like her oncologist, Dr Zelcer. At the time I remember thinking that she had such great dreams never thinking for a moment she would realize that dream. I’m proud to share that she is now a doctor in her 4 year pediatric residency in Calgary and hopes to do a Fellowship in oncology to do exactly what she told me in 2005 - to become a pediatric oncologist! My emotional involvement in this great organization comes from a place of gratitude. Make-A-Wish was there for us when we needed them most and they have encouraged Sarah every step of the way towards her dream!

That's why I'm participating. I have an ambitious goal of personally raising $10,000 and I know with support from people like you, I will reach my goal! I’m one of 100 women across Canada who are coming together to raise $1 million dollars in 2023. The money raised will help bring every eligible child's wish to life, because a wish is an integral part of a child's treatment journey.

Will you help me reach my goal by donating what you can, so we can make wishes come true?

Thank you for supporting my Women for Wishes campaign!
