Welcome to a 'Wish Mom's' Fundraising Page for Make-a-Wish Vancouver Island!
My daughter Amelia was born with Cystic Fibrosis, a fatal, progressive genetic disease, which requires time consuming daily treatments. She has spent over 5000 hours of her 7 years doing treatments, taken over 25,000 pills and spent 500+ hours in hospital. Watching my child struggle to maintain her health and grapple with the ramifications of her illness has been heartbreaking. The difference a wish can make in the life of a child with a critical illness cannot be overstated. Amelia's wish to be able to do something as 'normal' as going camping was granted by the gift of a vacation trailer. Her wish has afforded her the opportunity to just be a kid, which she has enjoyed with relish over the last 2 summers.
To thank Make-a-Wish for everything they have done for our sweet Amelia, I am gathering my courage and participating in Make-A-Wish® Rope for Hope, rappelling down from great heights, to help grant the wishes of children living with life-threatening medical conditions. As the Mom of a child who had a wish granted, I know first-hand how a wish helps children feel stronger, more energetic, more willing and able to battle their life-threatening medical condition.
You can help make a difference too! Your support will allow the Foundation to continue to create powerful wish experiences, improving a child’s state of mind, replacing fear with happiness and helping them to feel like a normal kid again.
