Last year, my daughter Ava, had a wish granted by the Make A Wish Foundation and it was an extraordinary experience. Ava suffered a severe brain hemorrhage shortly after birth and was subsequently diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy. Her life is a series of appointments, therapies, medications, and constant pain. To have an opportunity to spoil her rotten was something we will never forget. My little girl wanted nothing more than to take a plane ride with mommy and daddy and meet some princesses. From the moment the wishmakers first visited Ava up until the last meeting, the care and attention to all of Ava’s needs was beyond incredible. Our week in Orlando was one we will never forget and left me with a feeling of overwhelming gratitude. I felt that I needed to do something to give back to the incredible organization that gave my daughter an opportunity of a lifetime. So this year I am gathering my courage and participating in Make-A-Wish® Rope for Hope, rappelling down from great heights, to help grant the wishes of children living critical illnesses, children like my precious Ava. Just thinking of her huge infectious grin will give me the courage to take the first step over the edge of that building!!! And if you know Ava, you know her smile is larger than life!!!
