Last year, through our inaugural CBRE Ride for a Wish event, team Suburban raised approximately $16,500 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation Southern Alberta which helps to grant life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
Make-A-Wish is near and dear to my heart as I was a recipient of a Wish when I was younger. I was diagnosed with Leukemia when I was 4 yrs old and battled with the disease until I was 8. I was sent to Disney World with my family once I had completed chemotherapy and was strong enough to travel. We had an unbelievable experience that we still talk about today and would have never been able to replicate as a family without the help of this incredible organization. My Wish was the most positive memory that I have from my battle with Cancer and the reason why this ride is so impactful for me.
The price tag on one Wish is $10,000. Last year, we were able to grant a Wish for a boy named Jaxon who is currently battling Leukemia and dreamed of meeting his heros, Woody and Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story. We almost raised enough for a second Wish so this year our goal is to raise $20,000 so we can give this gift to 2 amazing children!
Thank you all in advance for your kindness and generosity,
Mackenzie Allen
