Why our Family supports Make-A-Wish
Where do I start? It has been a rough few years for our family, but we are BLESSED!
Our oldest son Rashan was diagnosed with two life threatening blood diseases back in 2017. First it was a shock to find out our otherwise healthy and athletic son wasn't just suffering from normal teenage tiredness and headaches but specifically from Severe Aplastic Anemia and PNH (Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria).
This journey has been so challenging but we still have so much to be thankful for. We almost lost Rashan due to a severe allergic reaction to a necessary drug to treat his Aplastic Anemia but he has got much better since those very dark days. One blessing that really helped lift those dark clouds was finding out that Rashan was gifted something positive and wonderful to look forward to... Make-A-Wish granted him a wish.
Rashan's wish was to go as a family to somewhere warm and with a beach (to have a chance to spend quality time together). In December 2018 we all went to Atlantis, Bahamas as a family and enjoyed some time not worrying about life's stressors, appointments, treatments and balancing it all. This trip was such a blessing for us all.
Although, Rashan still battles PNH and his aplastic anemia (which was in remission) we have these memories to look back on forever. Make-A-Wish and the wishes they gift help families more than words can express.
Our goal is to try to raise money to help provide a similar experience to as many families as possible so they too can help heal. Donate if you can or spread the word to help others have the chance to support. Wishes really do heal.
