Our Wish Kids
We create life-changing wishes for Canadian children with critical illnesses. Wishes help replace fear with confidence, sadness with joy, and anxiety with the hope that anything is possible.
Sharing the power of a wish can help you talk to your donors. You can share with them that by donating they are helping grant wishes like these.
The privacy of our wish families is paramount. If you plan to share a wish story in conjunction with your fundraiser, please first ensure you have permission from Make-A-Wish to share wish details. The following wish stories can be shared publicly.
Aeriyle, 6
leukemia
I wish to have an English bulldog
Aeriyle is resilient, brave, extremely outgoing and has a smile that can light up any room she walks into. She has a kind heart and enjoys bringing joy to others – she does a discharge dance at the nurse’s station after every treatment, lifting everyone’s spirits.
Léandre, 12
cancer
I wish to meet a world renowned violinist
When Léandre was 10 he was diagnosed with cancer. On New Year’s Eve in 2019, he underwent a 10 hour surgery to remove the tumour, followed by months of radiation and chemotherapy. He started to practice his violin just 3 weeks after his surgery and played every day during his treatment.
Aiden, 15
heart condition
I wish to be the Prime Minister
Aiden was born with a Congenital Heart Defect. At the age of 15, Aiden has already had four open heart surgeries.Despite his health challenges and complications that impact many areas of his life, Aiden is an extremely intelligent, well spoken young man. Aiden is fascinated by and has a passion for politics.
Carly, 18
autoimmune disorder
I wish to give back to a local charity, Life Spin
Carly and her twin sister, who is also a wish kid, originally wished to go on a European cruise with their family. Because of COVID-19, Carly’s travel wish was paused, and she decided to wish it forward, and donate the funds allocated for her wish to Life Spin (a local anti-poverty charity) to help those affected by the pandemic. Her wish helped Life Spin provide toys to more than 120 families across her hometown for Christmas.
Oscar, 4
genetic disorder
I wish to travel to Walt Disney World® Resort
“Oscar had such an amazing time,” Tracy, Oscar's mom said. “Seeing our kids meet their favourite Disney characters, physically hug them, and the huge smile on their faces wiped away all the worries for the future – at least in those moments.”
