From the moment the stretch limo arrived at our front door to the moment we walked back into our home it was a week unlike any other.
We stayed at Give Kids the World in Florida, if you've never heard of them you should google it now...i'll wait....................................pretty cool eh? They work together with Make-A-Wish® to help grant wishes for children with life-threatening illnesess. It's a very cool 84 acre village with a pool, spa, hairdresser, mini putt, movie theatre, carnival like rides, and you stay in themed houses. There were Mexican houses, princess houses, western-style houses, and condos. We stayed in a villa, Sam was given the biggest room with a private ensuite with a jacuzzi tub. "Sorry parents the best is reserved for the guest of honour" they told us. It's a village where even Mayor Clayton and his wife will tuck you into bed and wish you a good night sleep. (a service we never enlisted mostly becawe didn't want to embarrass Sam too much...lol)
We dined in the Gingerbread house for most of our meals, it really was a gingerbread house made of candy, inside and out. The selection of food was truly a feast fit for a king with volunteers that would carry his dinner tray to the table for him.
For one week he forgot about the stresses of school, his condition, fitting in, bloodwork, doctors appointments, the list goes on.
Instead, we danced at street parties, played games, went on trolley rides with an elf who sang Christmas music the whooooole ride, went to Disney, Hollywood Studios, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter World, ate all the ice cream, Slurpees, and pizza we wanted. You literally just had to pick up the phone and dial, and within minutes a little red wagon would show up with the delivery.
We even had ice cream for breakfast. Actually, that was a must.
This kid was in heaven, it put a big smile on his face.
That's why I said yes to WOMEN FOR WISHES for Make-A-Wish® Canada.
Whether it's for a day, week or a lifetime.
Other children should feel what Sam felt.
I am helping transform lives, one wish at a time!
I have an ambitious goal of personally raising $10,000 and I know with support from people like you, I will reach my goal! I’m one of 100 women across Canada who are coming together to raise $1 million dollars in 2023. The money raised will help bring every eligible child's wish to life, because a wish is an integral part of a child's treatment journey.
